A pair of teenage girls from upstate were rescued Saturday after being held against their will in a Brooklyn house — where they were threatened and overheard their captors’ plans to pimp them out, cops said.
The two girls, a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old who vanished from Ulster County on Tuesday, were found in a gated house on Snediker Ave. near Linden Blvd. around 2 p.m., according to authorities.
The father of one girl rejoiced after his daughter wa [...]
The mayor who so ambitiously seeks to shrink traffic fatalities he calls the effort Vision Zero refuses to see beyond his nose on the power of autonomous vehicles to make the streets safer.
Apropos of no evidence, Mayor de Blasio says a proposal to the state Department of Motor Vehicles from GM and Cruise Automation for test runs in lower Manhattan early next year “creates a danger” so grave that “We will use all means at our disposal to stop this from happening.” [...]
The sun was still lolling its way toward New York when four streetlight shadows slinked into Washington Square Park and fixed sidelong eyes on the mansion that was their mark.
One by one, the men crept toward the brownstone at 19 Washington Square North and disappeared down its curbside coal shoot. For seven hours that morning — April 2, 1922 — they huddled in the cellar, unseen by the silk-stocking homeowners, Albert and Mary Shattuck, and their gaggle of servants. [...]

Tanaka, who has three years, $67 million left on his deal, can opt out now that the season is over.
The 28-year-old righty has until three days after the end of the World Series to decide.
"It's a sensitive matter," Tanaka said through a translator. "I don't want to comment on that. Disappointed in how things kind of unfolded for us. I haven't had a chance to think about my con [...]
