Demi Lovato jets off to Chicago to see ‘psychiatrist specializing in sobriety and mental health’

She was discharged from the hospital on Saturday and immediately checked into a rehab facility that same day – after suffering a near fatal drug overdose.

And on Friday, Demi Lovato temporarily left the facility for a few days to go to Chicago to see a psychiatrist who focuses on sobriety, mental health and overall wellness, according to TMZ.

The singer, 25, went to the specialist at the recommendation of her doctors at her rehab facility.

According to TMZ’s sources, she ‘jumped’ at the opportunity to see the psychiatrist in order to stay healthy and maintain her sobriety.

Demi jetted off to the Illinois city with her mom via private jet, landing at around 2 am local time on Friday, TMZ reports.

The actress will be in Chicago for only a few days and then return to resume treatment at the rehab facility outside California she’s been at for the past week.

TMZ’s insider added that the Tell Me You Love Me singer is ‘fully committed’ to being sober and getting better.

The news comes just one day after she canceled the rest of her world tour; all of tour stops in South America and Mexico have been canceled, TMZ reported.

She was set to perform in Mexico on September 20 and 22 and after, head to Chile, Argentina and Brazil in November.

The outlet said that Live Nation and Lotus Productions wishes ‘Demi Lovato the best now and in the future and we hope too see her soon in South America.’

On July 24, Demi was rushed to the hospital from her Hollywood Hills home after being found unresponsive.

She had to be revived with Narcan, which is used for opioid overdoses.

However, according to TMZ, she did not disclose to authorities which drug she had used.

On Sunday, Demi wrote a touching note to her fans thanking everyone for their support and love.

The singer wrote: ‘I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction. What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet.’

Meanwhile her management team is focused on clearing Demi’s life of toxic friends.

TMZ alleges that the list of ‘toxic’ people include a distant relative of Demi as well as ‘yes’ friends and drug users.
