A feud may be brewing on the “Dancing with the Stars” set.
Rumors are swirling about “a big chemistry issue” between Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Vanessa Lachey following the Season 25 pro’s sudden absence from Monday’s episode of the ABC dancing competition, according to People magazine.
Although host Erin Andrews claimed the 37-year-old father of one was out “dealing with a personal issue,” sources say the professional dancer and his amateur partner are engaged in a bit of a ballroom beef.
“They both have big personalities and that’s not always the best recipe for a good partnership,” the source said.
“They’ve been fighting a lot.”
Another anonymous source told E! Online the dancing duo “can’t find middle ground.”
Alan Bersten stepped in for Chmerkovskiy during Monday’s episode. E! reported, however, that Lachey’s original partner will return to the show next week.
Following his absence from the show, Chmerkovskiy appeared on brother and fellow “Dancing with the Stars” pro Val Chmerkovskiy’s Instagram story.
He was shown eating dinner with his wife Peta Murgatroyd, Val’s girlfriend Jenna Johnson and he and Val’s parents.
Claims of drama on Team Babies and Ballroom come amid the lowest “Dancing with the Stars” ratings in at least two seasons.
According to Deadline, the Season 25 premiere debuted down 19% among adults aged 18 to 49 with 10.4 million people tuning in, which makes one question whether this is just a ploy to increase the show’s ratings.
Neither Chmerkovskiy nor Lachey, 36, have addressed feud rumors.
In an interview with the Daily News ahead of the Season 25 “Dancing with the Stars” premiere, the pro appeared optimistic about their partnership.
While he acknowledged that they had “a lot of things to overcome,” he praised Lachey’s work ethic as her “biggest strength.”
“She is really dedicated. She rehearses as long as I keep her there. Practices are going great,” he said at the time.
