‘Fixer Upper’ to end over security concerns

Safety takes top priority for this TV family.

Fans were disappointed to learn that “Fixer Upper” will be coming to a close after Season 5, but sources tell Us Weekly there’s a good reason behind Chip and Joanna Gaines’ withdrawal from the spotlight.

“People drive by and like to take pictures in front of their house,” the anonymous informant said. “I think they just want to take a step back from it.”

The Gaines family announced the decision to end their wildly popular HGTV series after the upcoming season on their Magnolia Market blog on Sept. 26.

The pair revealed plans for the future, telling fans they intend “to take this time to shore up and strengthen the spots that are weak, rest the places that are tired and give lots of love and attention to both our family and our businesses.”

“Fixer Upper” stars Chip and Joanna went on to say that the decision was spurned by “us recognizing that we need to catch our breath for a moment.”

Their businesses have grown tremendously since 2003, when they opened Magnolia Market as a small retail store. After welcoming their first two kids, Drake, 12, and Ella, 10, Chip and Joanna shifted their focus to their construction business, Magnolia Homes.

The burgeoning company, and its dynamic owners, caught the eyes of HGTV executives and the rest, as they say, was history.

Two kids and a number of years later, the Gaines empire continues to grow.

Magnolia Market has since moved into a 20,000-square-foot barn, which includes food trucks and a bakery, written two books, launched a quarterly publication and they’re not stopping there.

In June Chip and Joanna announced plans to open Magnolia Table, a restaurant, by the end of 2017.

Busy is an understatement.
