Look, if we have to accept one season of...how do you call it...rebuilding?...as a buffer between the First and Second Golden Eras of Syracuse Basketball, so be it. And if that "rebuild" is a 22-win season with a 6-seed in the ... [...]
Legendary Pictures' big-budget reboot Godzilla, directed by Gareth Edwards and released by Warner Bros., arrives amidst a barrage of pre-release buzz that can't help but call to mind the previous attempt by a Hollywood studio to translate this quintessentially Japanese of celluloid icons to the American cinematic vernacular. That film, from Sony-Tristar and Independence Day director Roland Emmerich, arrived exactly 16 years ago next week as the summer season's preordained champion. I was there opening night, popcorn in hand, brain thoroughly washed by the mountainous onslaught of hype leading up to opening night, fully expecting the greatest blockbuster of all time.
Was Melissa McCarthy really refused by several of the top designers?
Melissa McCarthy has stirred up a backlash against fashion designers after revealing in a new interview that several top labels turned the plus-sized actress down for the 2012 Academy Awards – but TheWrap has learned that at least one was eager to work with the comedy star.
“Two Oscars ago, I couldn't find anybody to do a dress for me. I asked five or six designers–very high-level ones who make lots of dresses for people–and they all said no,” McCarthy said in the July issue of Redbook.
Or is she just experiencing the same problems every plus sized woman has while shopping for clothes?

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban: I have prejudices; everyone does
By Steve Almasy, CNN May 23, 2014 -- Updated 1519 GMT (2319 HKT)
(CNN) -- Mark Cuban is known for making pointed statements. Usually they are directed at the NBA brass or referees. Or contestants on the TV show "Shark Tank."
On Wednesday, he made a few remarks about bigotry that in light of the Donald Sterling scandal caused a bit of an uproar.
"In an interview with Inc. magazine at a business conference in Nashville, Tennessee, the Dallas Mavericks owner and billionaire entrepreneur talked about his own bigotry. "If I see a black kid in a hoodie and it's late at night, I'm walking to the other side of the street," he said. "And if on that side of the street, there's a guy that has tattoos all over his face -- white guy, bald head, tattoos everywhere -- I'm walking back to the other side of the street."

Time: May 22, 2014, Harry Swartout
Future or past or pluperfect, mutants are everywhere
There’s a lot going on in X-Men: Days of Future Past, which jumps around from the 1970s to the present day to nine years in the future. In each timeline, mutants familiar and new (at least to movies-only fans) try desperately to save themselves from diabolical mutant-hunting robots called sentinels. But fortunately for you, super speed or telekinetic powers aren’t needed to keep track of all the new X-Men. Just use this handy guide...
Meet the new X-Men
"The X-Men are a team of mutant superheroes in the Marvel Universe. They were created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby, and first appeared in The X-Men #1 (September 1963). The basic concept of the X-Men is that under a cloud of increasing anti-mutant sentiment, Professor Xavier created a haven at his Westchester mansion to train young mutants to us [...]
